Take your faith and your camp experience to the next level at Camp Berea’s Camper Discipleship Program (CDP)!
An application-only program designed for new and returning campers, the Camper Discipleship Program gives 14-17-year-olds the opportunity to participate in camping ministry while enjoying all the fun of our high-energy summer camp. Led by a CDP mentor, students will have the opportunity to mentor younger campers and lead camp activities, helping them uncover new gifts, talents, and passions and develop their leadership skills while having an amazingly fun summer of their own.
Part leadership role, part summer camp, in CDP, you will:
- Participate in hands-on ministry and service at camp in the mornings
- Enjoy camp activities in the afternoons and evenings
- Live in a close-knit community with your fellow CDP participants and make lifelong friends
- Be discipled by a dedicated mentor who will help you grow exponentially in your relationship with Jesus

CDP sessions
CDP sessions take place during our regularly scheduled summer camp weeks, giving CDP participants the chance to experience camp while also taking a deep dive into their faith and leadership skills. CDP follows its own schedule and programming, giving students a completely unique experience while being immersed in the joy and energy of the summer camp environment.

How long is CDP?
CDP is a two-week residential program at Camp Berea. We offer several sessions throughout the summer.
What are the qualifications to participate?
CDP is open to students ages 14-17. All you need is a personal relationship with Jesus and a willingness to learn and grow!
What service projects do CDPs participate in at Camp Berea?
Service times are intended to give CDPs a “behind-the-scenes” look at camping ministry. Therefore, CDPs will assist in areas that have a direct impact on the other campers, such as scooping ice cream in the snack shop, delivering camper mail, and prepping the dining hall for lunch. They may also help with camp-wide games in the evening.
Is CDP a Counselor-in-Training program?
We intentionally structure the Camper Discipleship Program to be different from traditional Counselor-in-Training programs. CDP is designed for more intentional discipleship with the intent of training student-leaders to be disciple makers in their church and community. However, CDP is a great way to discover that you love serving, and many former CDPs have come back as summer staff and short-term volunteers.
How many students are accepted per CDP session?
The CDP program usually accepts between 10-20 students each session, allowing for close-knit community and deep relationships to form.
When will I find out if my student is accepted?
You will typically hear back from us within a few days of applying. From there, we will schedule an interview with you and contact your references before informing you of your final acceptance into the program.
